"Wright played 88 percent of offensive snaps during Detroit's overtime win over the Giants in Week 12, securing three of four targets for 29 yards, but his status for Thursday's matchup against the Packers now appears uncertain due to a neck injury. It's possible the Lions are simply being cautious with Wright's health on a short week, given his position as the team's de facto starting tight end with Sam LaPorta (back) looking unlikely to return this season. "Spears is entering his third NFL season after spending the first two in a backup/change-of-pace capacity. He'll miss, at least, the first four games of the season due to injury. The 2023 third-round pick was expected to take on a larger role, but instead was a clear second to Tony Pollard for most of the season. In 11 games with Pollard, Spears trailed in snaps (255 to 381), carries (64 to 150), routes (126 to 161) and targets (32 to 38). Spears saw a late-season boost in usage and scored four TDs in a two-game stretch, but he averaged 7.6 touches and 5.7 fantasy points per game prior to that, and Pollard is still atop the depth chart. Perhaps Spears will carry his late-season momentum into 2025 once he's back on the field, but odds are he'll remain a moderately-used receiving complement to Pollard. He's worth no more than a bench spot."

"Tony Pollard dominated rushing attempts for Tennessee, tallying 14 compared to Spears' three. Spears did serve as a favorite checkdown option for fill-in QB Brandon Allen, but that resulted in little production. Injuries and a poor offensive environment derailed Spears' third year as a pro, as his 291 rushing yards across 13 regular-season games were the fewest of his career. He'll presumably enter the final year of his rookie contract in a backup role to Pollard in 2026."
